Carpentries Community in the Netherlands

Carpentries Member Organisations are organisations that made a financial commitment to the growth and sustainability of The Carpentries and are building local capacity for training. For a list of member organisations and the training they provide, please see this table. The Carpentries member organizations in the Netherlands form a sub-group of RST-NL and meet 3-4 times a year. About the Carpentries


To be the leading inclusive community teaching data and coding skills.


  1. To build global capacity in essential data and computational skills for conducting efficient, open, and reproducible research.
  2. To train and foster an active, inclusive, diverse community of learners and instructors that promotes and models the importance of software and data in research.
  3. To collaboratively develop openly-available lessons and deliver these lessons using evidence-based teaching practices.
  4. Focus on people conducting and supporting research.

The Carpentries project comprises the Software CarpentryData Carpentry, and Library Carpentry communities of Instructors, Trainers, Maintainers, helpers, and supporters who share a mission to teach foundational computational and data science skills to researchers.
